# Keyboard Foley

Add sound to typing: mechanical clicks, typewriter sounds, or soft pops. Space, Enter, and Backspace have their own sounds. All sounds were created for this package.

## Start and control

Needs Rebind 3.5.0 or newer on Windows or macOS. Rebind Link is not required. Follow [platform setup](https://docs.rebind.gg/concepts/platforms) for input permissions.

Open the package's `main.luau` in Rebind and start it from the editor toolbar. Select **Options** to change settings; they save automatically and apply while running.

- **F8:** mute or unmute.
- **F9:** switch between Mechanical, Typewriter, and Soft Pop.
- **Volume:** starts at 35%; 0% is silent.
- **Sound with Ctrl, Alt, Cmd, or Win:** off by default. Shifted typing still makes sound.

F8 and F9 are reserved even while muted. Change them with **Mute key** and **Theme key**; key changes apply while the package runs on Rebind 3.9 or newer, and on older versions after a restart. Other keys type normally. Navigation keys, other function keys, mouse buttons, and modifier keys alone are silent. Holding a key does not repeat its sound.

Stop from the editor toolbar. **Left Ctrl + Left Alt + K** (**Left Control + Left Option + K** on macOS) stops all scripts and releases held input.

## Privacy and limits

- The package does not record typed text or keystroke history, use the clipboard, run commands, or access the network.
- Sounds also play in password fields. Mute the package when sound is unwanted.
- Audio uses your computer's default output. Muting or stopping ends active sounds. An audio error mutes the package; check **Logs**, fix the problem, then press F8 to retry.
- Physical typing, output-device changes, and playback delay still need testing on Windows and macOS.
