# Motion Layers

Keep two mouse sensitivity curves, A and B. Switch between them, blend from one to the other, or tune a curve with the mouse wheel and apply it when it feels right.

Needs Rebind 3.5.1 or newer on Windows or macOS and Rebind Link, with the mouse and keyboard forwarded through [hardware mode](https://docs.rebind.gg/concepts/platforms). Stop other mouse-movement scripts first. Live hardware use remains unverified.

## Set up

Open the package in Rebind, select **Options**, and start it from the editor toolbar. Curve A starts at normal sensitivity and Curve B at half.

## Controls

| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| F7 | Switch between A and B immediately |
| Hold F8 | Blend toward the other curve; release to blend back |
| F9 | Turn Motion Layers off or on |
| Hold F6 | Preview changes to the selected curve |
| 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 while holding F6 | Pick Base gain / Knee / Transition width / Maximum gain and show its value |
| Mouse wheel while holding F6 | Adjust that setting instead of scrolling |
| Release F6 | Apply the changes |
| Escape while holding F6 | Discard the changes |

F7 and F8 do nothing during a preview, and F7 does nothing while F8 is held.

## Settings

The **Curve A** and **Curve B** tabs each have:

| Setting | What it changes |
|---|---|
| Base gain | Sensitivity for small movements. 1x leaves it unchanged. |
| Knee | How large a movement must be before sensitivity starts rising |
| Transition width | How gradually sensitivity rises from Base gain to Maximum gain |
| Maximum gain | Sensitivity for large movements. Keep it at least as high as Base gain. |

Set both gains equal for constant sensitivity. On the **Controls** tab, **Blend duration** sets how long F8 takes to blend; 0 makes it immediate. **Selected curve** and **Apply Motion Layers** match F7 and F9.

## Limits

- Movement size is measured per mouse report, not over time, so changing mouse sensitivity (DPI) or polling rate may need retuning. Your computer and app pointer settings also affect the result.
- To change F6 to F9, choose four distinct keys from F1 to F12, A to Z, CapsLock, ScrollLock, NumLock, Pause, or Menu. The preview keys (1 to 4 and Escape) can also be digits or Escape. Every key must differ, or the package does not start. Key changes apply while the package runs on Rebind 3.9 or newer; on older versions, restart the package.
- Invalid settings turn the effect off, with a warning, until you correct them.
- Changing a curve in Options during its preview discards the preview and keeps your Options edit.

## Stop

F9 turns off only this package. To stop it, use the editor toolbar or press **Left Ctrl + Left Alt + K** (**Left Control + Left Option + K** on macOS) to stop all scripts. Turning it off or stopping it discards an unfinished preview.
