# App Keys

Press a shortcut to bring an app's window forward, or open the app if it is not running. Six slots, one app each.

Needs Rebind 3.5.0 or newer on Windows or macOS. It requests the exec permission so it can start programs.

## Set up

1. Open the package in Rebind and select **Options**.
2. **Modifier held with every slot key** defaults to Ctrl+Alt, so the shortcuts are **Ctrl+Alt+F1** through **Ctrl+Alt+F6**.
3. On each **Slot** tab, set **Key** and the app:
   - **Windows:** **Executable** is the program's file name, such as `notepad.exe` or `chrome.exe`, or its full path if Windows cannot find it by name. **Arguments** are optional and split at spaces.
   - **macOS:** **Application name** is the app's name, such as `Safari`. **Arguments** are not used.
4. Start the package. Restart it after changing a slot key.

## Limits

- Each shortcut replaces any other use of that key combination while the package runs. The slot key pressed alone still works normally.
- On Windows, the first visible window whose program name contains the executable name is chosen, so apps with similar names can be mixed up. A minimized window is restored; a maximized one stays maximized.
- If an app cannot be focused or opened, a notice explains why.
- Live use remains unverified on Windows and macOS.

## Stop

Stop the package from the editor toolbar, or press **Left Ctrl + Left Alt + K** (**Left Control + Left Option + K** on macOS) to stop all scripts.
